Nuclear Victim's Rememberance Day

A day that we will always remember and a land that has been poisoned by radiation. A people that sacrificed their lives for ‘‘the good of mankind.’’ Though the day has the word victim, we are survivors because of our resilience, but victims because it will still affect us long after we are dust.

Please register here for the Marshallese Cultural Training led by Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese that is part of Welcoming Week NWA 2023. This event is an opportunity to learn about Marshallese culture, history and the experience of Marshallese people in Northwest Arkansas.

The Marshallese cultural training is about learning the heritage and history of Marshallese.  The training can be tailored to address the needs of an organization, or it can be general.  This training provides insight and awareness into the Marshallese culture.  It may address issues and concerns that the community or providers face with Marshallese and vice versa.  It is an experience that participants will learn to understand, work and support the community as a whole.

event to offer policy solutions to help address hunger in the Marshallese community

Every Arkansan should have access to adequate and nutritious food. But all too often, our “safety net” programs leave out the ones who need it most. For example, people born in the Marshall Islands are left out of the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, or SNAP. This is a longstanding oversight in federal law that we could help address with legislation now under consideration by Congress.

NWA Entrepreneur Summit

Join the first gathering of its kind… where Americans from all backgrounds come together to realize the potential in all of us to be starters, makers, doers, dreamers.

  1. Meet “next door” entrepreneurs in our community.  They will share their stories and lessons learned. Some of them might even share the delicious foods, creative arts, or personal handicrafts they’ve made.

  2. Be entertained by musicians, artists, makers, and performers and learn about their entrepreneurial stories.

  3. Learn how we can take action to make our community more supportive for entrepreneurs of all kinds. Meet our civic leaders, policymakers, educators, and others who are making an impact.

Policy in action

This is a first-of-its-kind event. Policymakers will have the unique opportunity to:

  1. Learn about new data on local entrepreneurs

  2. Understand best practices and policy options to support entrepreneurs

  3. Forge authentic connections with entrepreneurs and their supporters

  4. Hear from other policymakers their insights on pro-entrepreneur policies.

Voter Engagement Classic: Registering Voters with Paper Forms

National Voter Registration Day Webinars | National Voter Registration Day Call us old-fashioned, but there’s something about the classic voter registration setup of a folding table, a “REGISTER TO VOTE” sign, and a handful of bright-eyed volunteers carrying nothing more than a clipboard with paper registration forms and a pen. While online voter registration has become more common, millions of Americans live in states where pen-and-paper registration is the only available option. Even in states that do allow for online tools, paper forms can often feel more approachable for partner organizations and potential voters alike. Hosted by National Voter Registration Day
